In Year 4, the IBioIC will deliver cross-institution training in thesis writing as well as Career Planning. In addition, further commercial skills training will be delivered directly from industrialist to prepare the student for a career in the IB industry.

Compulsory training

Finding money in academic and commercial environments

Successful funding and tender applications can be the key to success for many companies and academic groups. This course will provide the students with basic skills in grant writing and tender drafting. In addition, the students will come face to face with some of the key funders in the UK to gain an insight into the current landscape.

Thesis writing workshop

All students will be required to undergo thesis writing training, either through IBioIC or their host university, in order to prepare the student for their final submission.

Planning your career in IB

This event will provide the information on the current employment landscape in the UK and provide students with the opportunity to meet a number of key employers.

Optional training

Industrial simulator

Students will undertake an intensive practical training course at IBioIC’s scale-up facilities at FlexBio. The lab is a semi-commercial facility and the simulator will provide students with practical skills beyond the lab.
